Study: Brisk Walks Help Quit Smoking Scientists conducted a study to find out if brisk walks help people quit smoking. They recruited 16 people who smoked at least 10 cigarettes a day. Participants were divided into three groups — they took a ten-minute brisk walk in the fresh air or did exercises on a treadmill. The control group was just resting. It turned out that the craving for smoking decreased in the groups that exercised indoors and outdoors throughout the workout. In the control group, it remained unchanged.
