She got her first cigarette from her father, the king: Margrethe (83), the chain smoker 66 years of smoking, that doesn't leave anyone without a trace – does it? To Queen Margrethe II (83) apparently yes! The Danish monarch, who shocked her people with her announced abdication in her New Year's Eve speech, was a passionate smoker for decades. Her husband Prince Henrik (†83), who died in 2018, once said about getting to know each other at an embassy dinner in London: "There sat this wonderful woman, surrounded by a cloud of smoke."
