Clearing the air: Smoking not allowed on city owned property

The City of Brantford has taken another step toward a healthy community by updating by-laws related to smoking and vaping on all city property. Last month Brantford City Council adopted an updated Clean Air Municipal By-law that restricts smoking or vaping of any kind on public property, including city parks, sidewalks, trails, and parking lots. Failure to comply with the amendments could mean a fine of up to $5,000. The by-law amendments reinforce the idea of the right to clean, smoke-free air in spaces where people commonly gather.
