New smoking rules in effect in Barrie: What you need to know
The city has expanded its smoking bylaw to include rules around cannabis, vaping and e-cigarettes. Here are a few of the main components of the new regulations, which were designed to conform to the Smoke-Free Ontario Act: • Recreation centre and arena properties are smoke-free. The rules cover a 20-metre radius around each site. • Smoking is banned on all city-owned parkland, such as sports fields, splash pads, fitness areas and playgrounds. • Smoking is prohibited within nine metres of outdoor food service patios. • The definition of "smoke" has been updated to include cannabis and tobacco.
