Court hears teen led police to illegal tobacco stash in Albury

A teenager working at an Albury tobacco and vape store led police to a huge quantity of the illegal products, a court has heard. Marlika Ryan opened a large safe in a back storeroom of the Dean Street store that contained 780 20-packs of illicit cigarettes, along with 640 iGet-branded nicotine vapes. But the 19-year-old was unable to unlock a small safe under the counter, so police forced it open and discovered three envelopes containing $7025 in cash. Ryan, of Melaleuca Avenue, Leeton, has pleaded guilty in Albury Local Court to a charge of taking part in a criminal group and contributing to criminal activitity, though won't be sentenced for another two weeks.
