Antibiotic resistance is a serious problem worldwide. A new study shows that pollutants from cigarette smoke and cigarette waste can promote the growth of resistant bacteria. The Institute of Hydrobiology at the Technical University of Dresden (TUD) was able to show in a study that pollutants from cigarette smoke and waste can promote the growth and spread of resistant bacteria in the environment.
