Heights man who used a cigarette to burn child is sentenced to prison time
A Harker Heights man who used a cigarette to burn a child last year was sentenced this week to prison time. Joseph Brent Head Jr., 28, was indicted on Jan. 24, on a third-degree felony charge of injury to a child causing intentional bodily injury. He pleaded guilty on July 16. On Tuesday in the 426th Judicial District Court, Judge Steve Duskie found Head guilty of that charge and sentenced him to three years in prison. During the same hearing, Duskie sentenced Head to a term of two years of deferred adjudication probation on an unrelated state jail felony charge of possession of a controlled substance less than one gram, according to Bell County court records.
