Australia achieves landmark victory over tobacco plain packaging at the WTO

SYDNEY, Australia (Reuters) - Australia won a major victory over its plain packaging tobacco plan on Thursday after the World Trade Organization rejected arguments put forward by Cuba, Indonesia, Honduras and the Dominican Republic. The WTO panel found that Australian legislation contributed to improving public health by reducing the use and exposure of tobacco products, rejecting claims that alternative measures would be equally effective.
