Smoking cessation drug Champix available again from June 1
The smoking cessation drug Champix will be available again from June 1. The costs will be reimbursed by the health insurance companies. The pharmaceutical company Pfizer had withdrawn Champix from the market in 2021. The reason was contamination with nitrosamine. It is the only drug to date that has been specifically developed to help people quit smoking. Unlike nicotine patches or chewing gum, Champix does not contain nicotine.
