Lithuanian police detained large cargo of illegal cigarettes
Photo: Sputnik.by (archive) Police and customs officers of Lithuania detained in the vicinity of Panevėžys a significant load of illegal cigarettes, reports BNS. In the tractor, which was managed by a citizen of Belarus, there were 1329 boxes, or 665 000 packs of cigarettes. The cost of illegal cargo is estimated at €2 mln. The smuggling was disguised under the planks at the end of the semitrailer. The tractor was traveling to Latvia. Police seemed suspicious documents presented by the driver: They said that the transit through Lithuania from Belarus to Germany carried boards.
