Greece imposes tough smoking penalties for drivers
Greek taxi, bus and other public transport drivers who smoke at work will be fined 1,500 euros and stripped of their licences for a month, under new traffic rules and a circular issued by the Ministry of Health. If there is a child under the age of 12 in the vehicle, the fine will increase to 3,000 euros. In addition, drivers of private vehicles who smoke when a child under the age of 12 are also in the vehicle will be fined 1,500 euros and deprived of their rights. They will be punished even if a passenger smokes in the vehicle.
