Trichy: The food safety and drug administration department sealed 22 shops for selling the banned tobacco items in Trichy on Friday. A team led by designated food officer R Rameshbabu sealed four shops in the Manikandam area, a tea shop at Woraiyur, two shops in the Andhanallur area, a shop at Mannachanallur, seven shops at Thuraiyur, five shops at Thuvakudi and two shops in Trichy city. A press statement from the food safety department said the action was taken in concurrence with Trichy commissioner of police N Kamini and district superintendent of police V Varunkumar.
