Smoking Rates Falling Despite Growing Population

A new report from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention provides some great health news. It appears that the smoking rate has fallen from 21 percent in 2005 to just 18 percent last year. Thus, the total number of smokers in the United States has decreased from more than 45 million to just over 42 million, even in the face of higher population density. Furthermore, among those within the smoking community, the number of daily smokers has dropped from 80.8 percent in 2005 to about 76.9 percent last year too.
