Customs incinerates smuggling of more than 30 million units of cigarettes

The Directorate General of Customs (DGA) incinerated 30 million units of cigarettes of different brands, amounting to approximately RD$169.6 million in tax evasion. These goods were seized during several operations carried out at the country's border, ports and airports. The units were incinerated during a ceremony led by the Director General of Customs, Eduardo Sanz Lovatón and in the presence of the representative, in the country, of the Philip Morris company, Erick Pérez Del Toro, the president of the Dominican Association of the Cigarette Industry (Asocigar), Andrés Espinal, among other officials.
