Only four of Tokyo's 23 wards prohibit smoking of heated tobacco products
Only four of the 23 districts of the Japanese capital Tokyo ban smoking of heated tobacco products on the street and impose fines for violations. These products have become very popular in Japan. Experts are therefore calling for regulations similar to those for conventional cigarettes to be enacted. Heated tobacco products now account for 40 percent of domestic tobacco sales Japan Tobacco Inc. launched "Ploom", the first of these tobacco products in Japan, in 2013.
