Australia appoints new Illicit Tobacco and E-cigarette Commissioner

The Albanese Government has appointed Amber Shuhyta as the new Illicit Tobacco and E-cigarette (ITEC) Commissioner, effective from 1 July 2025. The ITEC Commissioner role was created in July 2024 to coordinate national efforts to combat illicit tobacco and e-cigarette trade. Shuhyta replaces interim commissioner Erin Dale, who concluded her 12-month term on 30 June. In her new role, Shuhyta will lead a unified national response and support the development of strategies to counter the growing threat posed by illicit tobacco and vaping products.
