Cigarette prices expected to jump by 9 cents per pack by April

The price of traditional cigarettes is going up again by April, this time by 9 to 10 cents per pack for the top brands of Henrico County-based Philip Morris USA, an industry analyst said last week. The increase follows Philip Morris’ recent pattern of raising prices every six months or so, which R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. and ITG Brands LLC tend to quickly match. The last price increase was 10 cents in October, though the amount of increase can vary by brand.
