UK gives green light to law to permanently ban smoking for new generations
The British Parliament has taken a historic step in banning tobacco. By a vote of 383 to 67, the House of Commons has given the green light to a bill that will prevent people born after January 1, 2009, from buying tobacco for life. In practice, a 'deferred' ban that will not affect those who have reached the age of majority until 2026, but that will be complete and permanent for those who are still minors then and all generations yet to be born.
