In view of the EU Commission's proposal to tax cigarettes much more, Germany's tobacco industry warns of higher prices. "The project would lead to the price of a pack of branded cigarettes in Germany rising from currently about 8.50 euros to more than 12 euros," said Jan Mücke of the Federal Association of the Tobacco Industry and Novel Products (BVTE) of the German Press Agency in Berlin.
