A new excise duty rate on tobacco products has been in force in Poland since 1 March, which results in an increase in the price of a pack of cigarettes to over PLN 20, RMF FM reports. These changes are the result of regulations passed last year. The radio station adds that according to the plan of the Ministry of Finance, excise duty on cigarettes will gradually increase until 2027. In 2025, the rate increases by 25 percent, in 2026 by 20 percent, and in 2027 by another 15 percent. This means that the price of a pack of cigarettes, which is currently PLN 17-18, will increase to over PLN 26 in 2027.
