Indodata: Illegal Cigarette Circulation Costs the State Rp97.81 Trillion
JAKARTA – Indodata Research Center revealed that the circulation of illegal cigarettes throughout 2024 consists of plain cigarettes or without excise tape, counterfeit cigarettes, misallocation (saltuk) of used cigarettes, and mispersonalization, resulting in potential state losses estimated at Rp97.81 trillion. According to the Executive Director of Indodata Research Center Danis Saputra Wahidin, the largest number of illegal cigarettes in circulation is plain or without excise tape at 95.44 percent, followed by counterfeit cigarettes at 1.95 percent, saltuk at 1.13 percent, used at 0.51 percent, and salson at 0.37 percent.
